Gp668 Gp668 Gang Set Programmer

The Gp668 Gang/Set Programmer is the first in a range of programmers from Sedo Systems to meet all your programming needs.

  • Industry’s fastest gang/set programmer.
  • Low voltage support down to 1.8V.
  • Interchangeable socket modules to support multiple package types.
  • Standalone or computer controlled operation.
  • Embedded web server.

The Gp668 Gang Set Programmer is a high performance, high volume production programmer offering superior programming speeds and support for the newest and biggest memory devices. The use of a modern high speed processor reduces overheads enabling high programming speeds to be achieved with eight sockets.

The Gp668 can take two programming modules to program up to eight devices at a time. The interchangeable modules provide socketing for various package styles and have receptacles as standard to facilitate easy replacement of worn programming sockets.

In addition to the large program button on the programmer there is a pneumatically operated footswitch supplied which duplicates the action of the program button.

The programmer can be used either standalone or controlled by a computer. An embedded web server available via the serial port allows control from your favourite web browser without having to install custom control software. The programmer can also be controlled by a computer via the serial or IEEE1284 parallel port.

Device programming algorithms are stored in on-board flash memory permitting easy user upgrades for new or changed algorithms. Upgrades can be made via the serial or parallel interfaces without the need for opening the case. All programming and verification is performed to the device manufacturers’ specifications. Devices can be selected using quick codes for easy setup or by using scrolling menus.

Each operation between the programmer and the device is monitored to provide full error reporting and ensure the integrity of the programmed data.

Updates for the device programming algorithms will be available for download from this website once a quarter. For users who require better support a range of software maintenance contracts are available to suit your requirements.

Specification

Programming

  • Device Support:
CMOS PROMs, EPROMs, FLASH, EEPROMs, serialPROMs & selected Microcontrollers.
  • Packages:
Interchangable package modules allow support for all package styles including DIP, PLCC, TSOP, TSSOP, PSOP, SOIC, uBGA & FBGA.
  • Bit modes:
8, 16 and 32-bit modes are available for memory devices.
  • Security:
All types of device security are implemented including security fuses, encryption and software data protection (depending on device). For flash devices up to 256 individual sector protection bits can be configured.
  • Functions:
Available operations include load, empty check, program, verify, RAM edit, checksum & CRC.
  • Programming:
Programs all eight devices simultaneously in either set or gang mode.
  • Verification:
Checks can be performed before and after programming to verify device data.
  • Device Counter:
A device counter can be set to the number of devices required, the count being displayed and updated after each programming operation. When the required number of devices have been correctly programmed further program operations are disabled until the count is reset.

Memory

  • RAM:
32M bytes data RAM supplied as standard using 168pin unbuffered SDRAM DIMM.
  • Editor:
Hex editor for all data memory locations.

User Interface

  • Display:
20x4 character alphanumeric back lit LCD.
  • Keypad:
24 key tactile silicon rubber keypad supplemented by a dedicated Program key.
  • Footswitch:
Pneumatic hand/foot switch duplicating the action of the Program key.
  • Alarm:
User selectable audible warning to announce the end of operation and/or a key press.
  • Socket LED:
An LED adjacent to each socket. Green to indicate passes and red to indicate failures.
  • Module LED:
Single LED on each module. Green to indicate the sockets are busy and red to indicate the module is incorrect for the currently selected part.

Computer Interface

  • Embedded web server:
Operation can be from any computer running a web browser via the serial port. The local Program button and footswitch can still be used with this method of control. A TFTP server will be required on the computer for file transfers (one is supplied for Windows PC).
  • Computer control:
Operation can be from any computer via the ports rather than the local keypad and LCD. The local Program button and footswitch can be used under computer control.
  • Parallel port:
    IEEE1284 standard parallel port.
  • Serial port:
User selectable 1200 to 115K2 baud with software and hardware handshake.
  • I/O Formats:
All popular formats including Intel hex, Motorola S-Record, Binary, Intel 32, ASCII-hex-space.
